Yellow Gold Cuban
Are these cigars salvageable? Alright to smoke?
I was searching around my attic today and found two old cigar boxes that contained each one cigar. There was a Cohiba Lancero and a Davidoff No. 1.
My father quit smoking almost a decade ago, and I'd probably put these cigars at around 5, maybe 10 years older than that. The Cohiba's age may be identifiable by the box which was wooden, with a white paper cover, gold instead of yellow trim and the Cohiba logo over a tobacco leaf.
Both boxes are certified Cuban.
My question is; what is the best way to rejuvenate these two cigars? They seem very dry and frail but still intact. The environment they were in gets very cold in the winter, and very warm in the summer. After they have been restored, would they be suitable to smoke? Or should I keep them around as a collector's item.

Unfortunately at this point, they would serve far better as a collector's item. It only takes a few hours out of a humid environment for a cigar to start becoming dry, and within a day it starts to lose the oils that are a major part of the cigars flavor and construction. Theoretically, you may very well be able to humidify these cigars back to a condition in which you could (theoretically) smoke them, but they would taste pretty much the same as dried grass rolled up and smoked.
